Greetings, My name is SatyaNG, Today i want to share my experience with Nokia Lumia 720 mobile OS upgrade process. i hope this process will help you to update your old Lumia mobile with new and stunning Windows 8.1 i.e Lumia Cyan update.

3. WiFi Internet - Make sure you have good speed WiFi internet available, don't download the update package using mobile data plan like 2G / 3G until unless
you have unlimited plans, other wise it cost you more.
4. Avoid using the phone during the phone during the update package downloading and updating your phone. it means you will be with out phone 2 - 3 hrs, depending on the internet speed and process.
after completiong of update package, you will be prompted to install the package or postpone, select 'Install ' if you would complete the process, of select 'postpone' if you have plan to do later.
once you click 'Install' your phone will start updating the new window 8.1 on to your Lumia, you will experience spinning wheels rotation , you may feel task bar is not running, but don't worry leave the phone and wait for complete the process.
you will be prompted " installation successful ' which means your Lumia update with new stunning Windows 8.1 , you can verify the details from :
>> Settings > Systems > extras+info >
you will see belwo screen :

this is windows 8.1 ID
if this process of some of phones were failed to update with Windows 8.1 , even my phone was ( Lumia 720) was also failed to update, i have tried of 4 times in this process to update.
now what should do to update? if we get continues error fails if you get any error 80188306 , 800b0003 , 80070003 message ? what should do?
Here is update procedure - 2 , this was success to me .
now this is time to use 'Nokia Software Recovery Tool' to update your Lumia.
Steps
Note: This process needs to complete from your PC/Laptop with minimum Windows 7/ Later OS with min 6 GB of space with Admin access.
5. Open the Nokia Software Recovery Tool V.1.4.3 from your Desktop.
6. Connect your Lumia phone with data cable to your PC/ Laptop
7. you will see the below screen now:
8. Wait for till your phone detects by Nokia tool.

How to upgrade your Lumia with latest Nokia Windows Phone 8.1 Update push ?
from last 5 days many users were getting OS update notification , remember Windows Phone 8.1 Update consist of 2 different updates, which is minor update and major update.
all Lumia users were received first update message as minor update, this minor update was quickly downloadable and east to update the patch . once you update the minor patch you needs to check for software update manually. the second update will be bit of large file and takes some time depending on internet speed.
Lumia users in India can update their Lumia in 2 different ways.
Update Procedure - 1
I will explain all procedures in simple process no complicate easy to understand and easy to follow with simple English.
2. Phone Storage - Make sure minimum of 1.5 to 2 GB space free on phone, remove all games and free-up the space. also, move all photos , Music, videos to cloud storage / to SD card .
Procedure - 1
1. Make your phone fully charged ( needs at least 75% battery power, please charge your phone using power adapter, not while connecting with Data-cable , PC).2. Update Procedure - 2
if you face continues errors while updating your phone in update procedure , you can try this below procure , this will works like charm. i have tested it was success to me .now this is time to use 'Nokia Software Recovery Tool' to update your Lumia.
What is Nokia Software Recovery Tool ( NSRT), this tool helps to reset and recover phone software at home, if your phone is experiencing software related or software update problems. With Windows Phone 8 models, you can also use Nokia Software Recovery Tool to recover your phone in case your phone is not responding, it appears to be stuck, or it is not starting.
Note: This process needs to complete from your PC/Laptop with minimum Windows 7/ Later OS with min 6 GB of space with Admin access.
2. Download NokiaSoftwareRecoveryToolInstaller.exe from above link which is approximate 54mb .
3. Once download completes, start installing this NSRT on your PC with good internet connection.
4. Before doing this process make sure you took complete backup of your files from Phone, there is no guarantee that you files will stay/may delete from phone. as per my experience, after completion of this process/update of phone with windows 8.1, your phone will be with factory settings and you may feel brand new phone configuration experience.
5. Open the Nokia Software Recovery Tool V.1.4.3 from your Desktop.
6. Connect your Lumia phone with data cable to your PC/ Laptop
7. you will see the below screen now:
8. Wait for till your phone detects by Nokia tool.
9. once your phone detects , you will see the below screen
10. Select 'Download'
11. now the process begun from downloading the new patch i.e windows 8.1 package
12. remember ... new windows patch size will be 1.5 GB, may take .30 min to 3 Hrs more depending on internet speed
13. Done remove the phone from data card and don't use your phone, if you do so, your download may interrupt.
14. Note: you may be getting errors likes internet interruption and download failed, BUT don't worry, since you will be downloading 1.5 GB , so, you may face this disconnection issue.
15. Once you are completed to downloading the packages, start downloading the package.
16. During the process, you may experience multiple phone restarts, carefully observe the notifications in software tools and notifications on phone.
17. some times, your phone may be fail to restart automatically.
18. but no-worry, restart the phone and you will notice " your phone updated successful"
start configuring your phone and you will notice , new interface and enjoy the new phone windows 8.1
remove the phone, and enjoy.
